Outback Jeep Cake Recipe

Outback Jeep Cake Recipe

Here's an all-terrain vehicle cake that will get your party rolling. The rugged look comes from "mud"-covered tires, licorice roll bars, and two adventurous-looking cookie outbackers.

  • 2 baked loaf cakes
  • 2 cups green frosting
  • 1/2 cup white frosting
  • 5 chocolate-covered doughnuts (tires)
  • LifeSavers Gummies (hubcaps)
  • Black and red shoestring licorice
  • Black licorice twists (roll bars)
  • Pirouette cookies (bumpers)
  • Starburst hard candies (headlights)
  • Sour tape (grille and hats)
  • Good & Plenty (door handles)
  • Gummy sours (eyes)
  • Wafer cookies (faces)

Outback Jeep Cake Step 1

1. Place one of the loaf cakes right side up. For the Jeep's cab, turn the second cake upside down and cut it in half at a slight angle. Ice the top of one half with green frosting, turn it over, and place it on top of the first cake, as shown. Frost the body and roof of the Jeep green and the windows white.

2. Place doughnut tires on both sides of the Jeep and a spare in the back; press LifeSavers into the centers of the tires for hubcaps.

3. Outline the doors and window wipers with shoestring licorice. Use licorice twists for the roll bars, Pirouette cookies for the bumpers, Starburst hard candies for the headlights, sour tape for the grille, and Good & Plenty for the door handles.

4. For the rugged outbackers, decorate wafer cookies with sour tape hats, gummy sour facial features, and shoestring licorice mustaches. For the finishing touch, put a toy crocodile or snake in the trunk.
