Baked Fries On A Pizza Stone

Baked Fries On A Pizza Stone

By Macki West

When I said I was on a cook everything on a pizza stone kick, I wasn’t kidding.  Last night we made fries! Who doesn’t love french fries?! Oh man, my family cannot get enough, but they are terrible for you. A deep fried potato, sometimes battered, sometimes double fried. Always delicious and always bad for you. We make baked fries and they are surprisingly satisfying so I decided to give the pizza stone a try. Of course, it worked and now my kids are begging for pizza stone baked fries instead of the deep fried evil twin. I found the secret to delivering deliciousness is choosing the right potato and using the pizza stone.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 white potatoes (not russet or baking potatoes)
  • olive oil
  • fresh ground sea salt and pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees with the pizza stone on the middle rack. Cut the potatoes into fry size sticks and place into a bowl. Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil onto the potatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss so each potato is covered. Place directly onto heated pizza stone and cook for 12 -15 minutes or until they are brown and getting crisp. Remove from oven using a spatula, they should lift right off! Eat up!
