Quick Caramel Apple Sticky Buns Recipe

By Brooke McLay

You don’t mess with the perfection that is a classic cinnamon roll unless you can really mess with it right. You must know I fully recognize this fact and would never, never suggest you sway from anything but complete loyalty to cinnamon rolls. Unless, of course, there was some variation that was so absurdly decadant and delicious, the perfect combinations of autumn flavors, and cinnamon goodness, and sticky caramel. And apples. Oh, high heavens. There must be apples. And so, dear friend, you are officially invited. To make Caramel Apple Sticky Buns. They are like cinnamon rolls, but ninety times more awesome. Better yet, you can go from start to finish with this recipe in about 10 minutes.

Quick Caramel Apple Sticky Buns

Ingredients

  • 6 granny smith apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup prepared caramel sauce
  • 1 can Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Buns

Directions

In a large sauce pan, combine the diced apples, butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until the apples are softened and the sauce is thick and sticky (about 10-12 minutes). Stir in the caramel sauce. Place apple mixture in the bottom of a 9″ round baking dish. Arrange Pillsbury grands cinnamon rolls on top. Cook according to package instructions. Let rest 5 minutes before inverting the sticky buns. Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top, if desired.
