Potato Chip Sliders Stuffed with Mac and Cheese Recipe

Potato Chip Sliders Stuffed with Mac and Cheese Recipe

By Brooke McLay

There’s not a picnic or party that goes by where I don’t see my kids stuff their burgers or sandwiches with a handful of potato chips. “It tastes so much better that way, mom” says my oldest son, who has a mad penchant for Ruffles Sour Cream and Cheddar Chips. Thinking of his love for those salt chips, and his regular habit of begging for Mac and Cheese daily, I decided to toss together an ultimate burger inspired by his fave snacktime splurges. Four-bite slider hamburgers will mounds of crushed potato chips mixed in and a mouthful of Kraft Mac and Cheese hidden inside. Here’s how to get this snack food fusion in your own kitchen.

Because I made our meal with trusted, fresh, grass-fed ground beef, I decided to leave the center of our burgers slightly pink, but reccommend cooking your burgers all the way through. To ensure proper safety standards, place your burgers on a hot grilled turned to low. Cover and cook until brown all the way through.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound high-quality, grass fed ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup crushed Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream chips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • fresh ground pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Kraft Mac & Cheese, cooked
  • 6 slider buns

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef and egg. Stir in the chips, salt, and pepper until well mixed. Form into 6 equal-sized balls. Break each of the balls into half. Press one half very thin, creating a large well in the center. Scoop cooked mac & cheese into the center of the burger meat, then flatten and press the second piece of meat over the top of the burger, sealing the edges well around the mac and cheese. Press the burger down slightly to flatten and create a good burger shape.
  2. Cook on a griddle or grill, heated to medium-low heat. Cover and allow to cook until meat is cooked through. Serve on buns with your favorite fixin’s and enjoy!
