Blackberry Cherry Vanillla Smoothies Recipe

By Angie McGowan

We took our son camping for the first time this past weekend. We had a wonderful time in the great outdoors, and my son was not happy when we left. We left our dog, Coco, at the vet for boarding. When we went to pick him up yesterday the vet said he needed more omega-3’s in his diet because his skin was a little dry. Our vet said he needed to be taking fish oil everyday, and that it wouldn’t hurt for the rest of the family either. When I got home I realized I did have some leftover hemp seed oil in the refrigerator, an oil that is loaded with even more nutritious fatty acids than fish oil. I figured we’d use it up first before I went to buy fish oil.

This morning I made these healthy blackberry smoothies and added some cherry juice and vanilla yogurt for creaminess. I added 2 tablespoons hemp seed oil to the recipe so we’d have our omega-3’s for today. Flax seed oil would be another great healthy oil that isn’t as expensive, and would make a great addition to a fruity smoothie.
