Sweet Gingerbread Houses

Total Time Needed: Afternoon Or Evening

Materials

  • Wax-coated carton
  • Masking tape
  • White glue
  • Brown paper bag
  • Card stock
  • Edge punch needle
  • Embroidery floss
  • 3-D fabric paint markers
  • Template

Instructions

  1. Cut the spout seam off a small wax-coated carton (we used orange juice, cream, and milk cartons), then clean and dry the inside. Tape the top of the carton closed with masking tape. Using white glue, cover the sides of the carton with pieces of brown paper bag cut to fit.
  2. To make the roof, cut a piece of card stock a bit longer and wider than the top of the carton. Punch the edges with an edge punch (availoable at craft stores) if you like, then fold the roof in half and poke a hole in the center crease with a needle. To make a hanger, thread a loop of embroidery flaoss through the hole and knot it on the bottom side. Glue the roof to the house and let the glue dry.
  3. Use 3-D fabric paint or markers to decorate the house.
