Christmas Craft: Snowflake Table Runner

Snowflake Table Runner

Total Time Needed: 2-3 Hours

Thanks to repositionable glue, your kids can rearrange these snowy patterns as often as they like.

Materials

  • Scissors
  • 2 to 3 yards of colorful felt for the runner (ours is 72 inches)
  • Chalk
  • Ruler
  • 1/3 yard of white felt for the snowflakes
  • Templates for the diamonds
  • Repositionable glue such as nontoxic Aleene's Spritz-On Reposition-It Tacky Glue

Instructions

Snowflake Table Runner - Step 1

1. Cut the colored felt so that it's 12 inches wide and fits the length of your table with about 8 inches of overhang on each end. Lightly mark each end of the felt with chalk as shown, then cut along those lines.

Snowflake Table Runner - Step 2

2. Cut nine 12-inch-long strips from the white felt in the following widths: three at 3/4 inches, three at 1 inch, and three at 1 1/2 inches. Next, make diamonds by cutting the felt strips on the diagonal as shown on the left. (We cut the 1 1/2-inch-wide strips in 1 1/2-inch intervals and the rest in 1-inch intervals, for 87 diamonds in all.) Download and print the templates.

3. Following the directions on the glue label, affix larger diamonds on the ends of the runner and the remaining pieces in snowflake patterns. (If a diamond isn't sticking properly, apply more glue and allow it to dry thoroughly.) Next year, simply spritz on another layer of repositionable glue before decorating your runner.
