Total Time Needed: 1 Hour
Many is the morning I've responded blearily to the desperate-sounding feed-me howls of our cats, Bluebell and Chessy, only to find out that they'd been fed a half-hour earlier. Taking pity on her gullible mother (and our overweight felines), my daughter, Lily, age 12, devised a "We've been fed" sign to prop next to the cat food container.
Materials
- 6- by 4-inch piece of card stock
- 10- by 1-inch strip of card stock
- Photo of your pet's head
- Glue
- Craft Foam
- 6- by 4-inch plastic photo frame
Instructions
1. To make the version shown here, cut a 6- by 4-inch piece of card stock, then cut two 1 1/2-inch vertical slots, 1 inch apart, in the center
2. Thread a 10- by 1-inch strip of card stock through the slots, starting and ending at the front.
3. Cut out a photo of your pet's head (or a photocopy of a photo), dot craft glue between the slots, and attach the head
4. Use glue to attach a 1-inch-wide paw cut from craft foam to the right end of the strip. Pull the strip so the foam paw is flush with the right side of the sign.
5. Place a conversation-bubble sticker (or glue on one you cut from paper) with the words "I've been fed!" on the left side of the cat's head on the sliding strip. Then pull the bar to the right until the bubble is hidden and place another sticker with the words "Please feed me!" on the right side. Insert the sign into a 6- by 4-inch plastic photo frame with a stand-up base and attach another foam paw to the left side of the bar.
