These vibrant, heavy-duty tags add a fun splash of color to travel gear, making it easier to pick your family's bags and suitcases from a lineup of look-alikes.
Materials
- Scissors
- Permanent marker
- Templates
- Con-Tact paper or packing tape
- Duct tape
- Clear tape
- Hole punch
- Cable ties
Instructions
1. To make some, first use heavy-duty scissors (a job for parents) to cut flat sections from thoroughly rinsed and dried colorful plastic containers, such as those for laundry and dish detergent (you can leave the labels on).
2. Draw a simple shape on the cutouts with permanent marker (you can also trace a cookie cutter).
3. If you like, write your child's name and address on the label-free side of the tag, then cover it with clear Con-Tact paper or packing tape.
4. Cover the back of the tag with colored duct tape, then trim away the excess tape and plastic.
5. Seal the edges of the tag with clear tape, if necessary, then punch a hole in the tag and attach it to a bag handle with colored cable ties (available at hardware and office supply stores).
