Halloween Costumes: Bubble Bather Costume

Bubble Bather Costume

Total Time Needed: 1 Hour

This squeaky-clean costume, which FamilyFun reader Julie Sikoryak made for her five-year-old daughter, Nicole, won first place in their neighborhood costume contest. Our favorite feature: bubbles made from small balloons.

Materials

  • 12-gallon plastic tub
  • craft shears
  • 3 yards of wide pink ribbon
  • rubber ducky
  • hand towel
  • hot glue gun
  • double-sided tape
  • 9-inch white balloons
  • safety pins
  • pink sweatshirt
  • socks
  • leggings
  • shower cap
  • face paint

Instructions

Bubble Bather - Step 1

1. Using craft shears, cut out the bottom of the plastic tub (parents only).

2. Remove the handles and thread the ribbon through the holes to make suspenders, as shown at left. Adjust the suspenders to fit your child and knot the ends together under the rim. Attach a rubber ducky and hand towel to the edge of the tub with hot glue or double-sided tape.

Bubble Bather - Step 3

3. Blow up several balloons and knot the ends. Working from the inside of the sweatshirt, slide a safety pin through the shirt and into the tied-off neck of the balloon. Repeat until the shirt is covered with bubbles (be sure the bubbles are not where the suspenders will lie).

4. Have your child put on the pink leggings, pink socks (over her shoes), bubbly shirt, bathtub, and shower cap. Pin or tape on extra bubbles to the tub and her cap, leggings, and socks -- and draw rosy cheeks with face paint. As in real life, your child may never want to get out of the tub.
