What you'll need
- Yellow card stock
- Scissors
- Pen or pencil
- Green chenille stem
- White craft glue
- Craft knife or toothpick
- 12" piece of light blue ribbon
- Pattern
Helpful Tip:
Any color card stock with work as will construction paper.
For a more natural look, make the card out of a brown paper bag and tie with hemp.
For a creative way to give your card, display in a vase and serve on a platter with mom's breakfast in bed!
How to make it
1. Print out pattern and trace on the pattern placed over yellow card stock. Once you lift the pattern, you will see indentations from the tracing. Cut around the entire pattern to cut out the flower.
2. Fold the yellow flower where the dashed lines on the pattern indicate.
3. Write your message inside the flower.
4. Turn the flower over and pipe a line of white craft glue on the back. Press the green chenille stem into the glue and let dry completely.
5. From the scraps of yellow card stock, cut two identical leaf shapes. Glue the leaf shapes, sandwiching the chenille between them.
6. Using the photo as a guide, use a craft knife or a toothpick to poke two holes into each of the flower flaps (do not poke through to the layer your message is written on). Run the loose ends of the ribbon through either hole on the bottom flap. Open the card, insert the ribbon into the two holes and pull through. Close the right side flap. Insert the ends of the ribbon into the holes of the left flap and pull taught. Tie a bow on the front of the card. Trim ends.
