You've heard of a Pub Crawl, right? Buy a ticket, then do a walking tour of various bars and have a beer! Well, I just heard of something even better, a Grub Sprawl!!!! Sample delicious foods rather than beers (but there are beverages to be had, of course!) On Monday, July 9, 2012, from 6 to 10 p.m., San Diego’s foodies will come together to participate in a savory stroll through the historic neighborhood of Old Town. The Old Town Grub Sprawl welcomes participating restaurants such as El Agave, Harney Sushi, Miguel’s Cocina, The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant, El Fandango and more.
Participation is fun and easy, attendees first visit one of two starting locations—Miguel’s Cocina and El Agave—to pick up complimentary wristbands (distribution begins at 5:45 p.m.). Donning these bright bracelets enables participants to enter any of the participating restaurants and order the evening’s special dish at only $5. Offering a wide array of delicious dishes, this edible excursion delivers a tempting trip around the gourmand’s globe. “Something For Everyone” is the mantra of the evening…encouraging friends to converse, laugh and enjoy while sharing dishes with each other and fellow Grub Sprawlers (always a lively bunch).
Participating restaurants (and some of the their offerings) are below:
1. Miguel’s Cocina - MOLLETES Grilled carne asada on telera bread with beans, shredded cheese, fresh avocado salsa, and cotija
2. El Agave - SOPECITOS SURTIDO Homemade, flat soft toritlla shells garnished with black beans, shredded chicken, onion, lettuce, sour cream and dusted with " queso fresco" (part skim milk cheese ) and salsa
3. Harney Sushi
4. Barra Barra Saloon - GRUB SPRAWL SAMPLER A delicious variety of Barra Barra offerings including our Mango Seabass Ceviche, a Guacamole Chalupa and Chimchurri Carnitas Quesadilla. Served with our fresh tortilla chips and house made salsa.
5. Casa Guadalajara - CHEESE CRISP SPECIAL Crispy flour tortilla covered with refried beans and your choice of shredded chicken or beef. Topped with melted cheese, tomato, guacamole, and sour cream
6. O’Hungry’s (2 Options) - CHICKEN FRIED STEAK or BBQ SPARE RIBS Served with steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes and dinner roll
