Panko Crusted Salmon Recipe

By Angie McGowan

Here’s a fun way to add a little pizazz to your ordinary baked salmon. I used extra crunchy Panko bread crumbs to top these fillets, as well as a tasty glaze. Before adding the bread crumbs, I brushed on a sweet and savory Asian inspired glaze. I made my glaze out of hoisin, which is an Asian BBQ sauce, as well as ginger, soy sauce and sesame seed oil. To add a little spicy kick, you can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes. To go along with it, I served a simple salad. It made the perfect quick and easy weeknight meal.

Panko Crusted Salmon

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seed oil
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup panko crumbs
  • olive oil

Method

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly oil a baking sheet. Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and ginger in a small bowl. Brush over fish fillets.

2. Sprinkle panko over fish and bake at 400 degrees for 15 – 20 minutes, or until fish is done and flaky.
