Spooky Skellington Lampshade Craft

No one casts Halloween in the same light as the "pumpkin king with a skeleton grin." This decoupage holiday lampshade depicts the skeletal master of fright lamenting his fate in the glow of the full moon.

What you'll need

  • Template for Spooky Skellington Lampshade
  • Medium box-style lampshade (the one shown here is approximately 11 inches tall and 12 inches across the base)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Lightweight craft paper (yellow, black, and purple)
  • Wax paper
  • Acrylic sealer / glue (such as Mod Podge)
  • Foam brush
  • Black permanent marker

How to make it

1. First, print and cut out the cup cuff template.

2. Cover your work surface with wax paper.

3. Place the black background piece face down on the work surface and coat it well with sealer/glue. Carefully lift the glued paper and press it onto the lampshade, using your fingers to gently smooth the paper and stick it evenly in place.

4. Next, attach the moon piece in the same manner, centering it atop the circular opening in the background.

5. Now attach the hill, matching up the lower corner with the background edges.

6. Use a marker to draw an eye on the Jack Skellington piece. Then color in the entire body below the head with the exception of a V-shape shirt front, as shown.

7. Glue the Skellington piece atop the hill. When the glue is dry, lightly draw skeleton fingers below each wrist.

8. Coat the entire lampshade panel with a couple coats of sealer/glue, allowing it to dry between applications.

9. Now try out the lamp and see how it looks when it's turned off and on.
