Doorknob Reminder Craft

Doorknob Reminder Craft

Total Time 1 hour Ages all-ages

With the complicated schedules kids have to follow these days, a friendly checklist of what needs to be brought to school can be a real lifesaver. This plastic-protected version--hung right on the doorknob so it can't be overlooked--makes it almost impossible to leave without, for example, your gym sneakers or clarinet. Organized by day of the week and personalized according to each child's school schedule, the list can be easily updated on your home computer should your reminding needs change

What you'll need

  • Card stock
  • Plastic sheet protector (available at office supply stores)
  • Wrist coil key chain (or, in a pinch, a ribbon)
  • Hole punch

How to make it

  1. Create your weekly list on your home computer, print it on card stock, and trim it to half a vertical sheet.
  2. Slip it into a plastic sheet protector, fold the plastic in half lengthwise, and punch a hole at the top through all the layers. Attach a wrist coil key chain (or, in a pinch, a ribbon) for hanging.
  3. For the movable arrow pointer, print out the text on your computer, glue the paper to craft foam, then sketch and cut out an arrow shape. Hot-glue a mini wooden clothespin to the back as a clip.
