What you'll need
- 1 cardboard tube
- 1/2 sheet of giraffe print felt
- White craft or felt glue
- Scissors
- 1/4 sheet tan felt
- Scrap of brown felt
- 2 large wiggle eyes
- Black pen or fine tip marker
- Pattern
Helpful Tip:
We found our giraffe print felt at our local craft store, but you can paint the cardboard tubes, or cover them in construction paper if you like.
If you paint the tube or cover in paper, use construction paper for the head as well.
For an even longer neck, use two cardboard tubes or a paper towel tube!
How to make it
1. Cover the cardboard tube with the giraffe print felt using white craft glue and let dry.
2. Cut pattern for head and ears from tan felt and forelock hairs from brown felt. Fringe the top of the forelock by cutting small slits, see pattern for guide.
3. Fold the head piece of felt in half and press to make a crease. Open back up and lay it flat on the table. Using the crease as your guide, glue on the ears and the forelock, they should stand straight up.
4. Glue the eyes onto the face, about an inch below the crease. Let everything dry.
5. Use a pen or marker to draw on two nostrils.
6. When dry, glue the face side onto the front of the cardboard tube, and glue the other end to the back. Let dry.
