Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies

Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies

Prep Time 10 minutes

Regular vanilla frosting is not my favorite thing, so the idea of using it on these cookies didn't really appeal to me. Plus, the white frosting stands out sharply against the brown cookies and pretzel antlers, and I found it fairly distracting.

When I hit on the idea of making a peanut butter frosting instead to attach the antlers and facial features, I realized it not only solved the problem of the frosting color, but also matched the taste of the cookie filling. Two problems solved at once!

What you'll need

  • Peanut Butter Sandwich cookies (like Nutter Butter® cookies)
  • Brown and Red Candies (I used Peanut Butter M&Ms®)
  • Mini pretzel twists
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-3 Tablespoons milk

How to make it

  1. In a stand mixer or with hand beaters whip together the powdered sugar and the peanut butter. Add the milk 1 Tablespoon at a time until the frosting is thick but squeezable (you may not need all the milk).
  2. Use the peanut butter frosting to attach the pretzels to the top of the cookies as antlers, the brown candies as eyes, and the red candies as a nose. Let sit for 15 minutes or so to set.
