A simple, buttery-good holiday cookie recipe, which you can ice or decorate to your sweet tooth's content.

What you'll need
- 1 cup salted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 to 2 1/2 cup flour, depending on the humidity that day
Notes:
Yields 2 dozen cookies
How to make it
- Cream butter and sugar well.
- Add vanilla and flour to make a pliable dough.
- Roll out thin (1/8") and cut with a small round cutter, 1 1/2" in diameter.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees F until very lightly browned on the bottom -- about 8 - 10 minutes.
- Cool and frost with Royal Icing (optional).
