It's never too early to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, and we're thankful for these homemade thank-you cards that combine personalized sentiment with do-it-myself simplicity.
Materials

FOR THE STAIN-FREE STAMP PAD:
- Recycled wipes box
- Washable tempera paint
- Sponge
Instructions
1. To start, take a photo of your child with her new gift. Glue the image to a piece of card stock cut to fit a business-size envelope. (We used two pieces of card stock glued together. The top layer measures 3-3/4 by 8 inches and the optional back layer measures 4 by 8-1/2 inches.)
2. Next, spell out "thank" and "you" with alphabet stamps. Tape the letters together as shown, so your child can easily stamp them onto her card, a complete word at a time. (See instructions below for a kid-friendly stamp pad.)
3. When she's done, tape together the letters of her name and have her "sign" the back of the card. Finally, ask her what she likes most about her gift and transcribe her words near her name. Try to keep it quirky. After all, who wouldn't prefer "It bounces, and it's bouncy, and I love it" to "The ball is very nice"?
4. Stain-free Stamp Pad: Made with a recycled wipes box and washable paint, this kid-friendly stamp pad is kind to the planet and the "ink" easily washes off kids and clothes. To make one, place a clean, moist sponge inside the empty box. Squirt two drops of washable tempera paint onto the sponge and squeeze it to distribute the color. When your child is done stamping, be sure she closes the lid so the sponge stays moist. If it does dry out, just add a few drops of water and a drop or two of paint. (Be careful not to use too much paint or the stamps won't print neatly.)
