Total Time Needed: 1 Hour
Here's a group of characters your kids will go nutty over.
Materials
- Peanuts in the shell
- Small nail or tack
- Twigs
- Pipe cleaners
- Glue
- Markers
- Yarn, cotton or pieces of wool
Instructions
- Start with a handful of unshelled peanuts. Hold each one stem side down and use a small nail (parents only) or tack to poke arm and leg holes in the shell.
- Insert stubby twigs or pipe cleaners for limbs, using a dab of glue to hold them in place.
- Draw on faces with fine-tipped markers.
- Fashion hair and beards out of wool yarn or bits of cotton and glue them onto the shells. For hats, use acorn crowns or tiny pinecones.
- To fashion a peanut pet, turn the nut sideways and add four twig legs and a tail. Use markers to draw on a nose, ears and a few spots. For a dog collar, wrap a pipe cleaner around the midsection of the peanut. Or make a cat by drawing on whiskers and tiger stripes. Add a fluffy yarn tail.
