Use household recyclables to create an eye-popping Martian.
Materials
- Pumpkin
- Carving knife
- Opaque lightbulbs
- Black marker
- Wire coat hangers
- Cotton balls
- Toothpicks
- Apple
Instructions
- Cut off the top and hollow out the pumpkin.
- Carve out a wide mouth on the pumpkin face.
- Use the marker to draw eyeballs on old painted lightbulbs. Then cut out two eyeholes near the top of the pumpkin's face and carefully insert the base of a bulb into each one (a job for adults only).
- For antennae, straighten out wire coat hangers, push the ends into the pumpkin, and cover the tips with cotton balls.
- Finally, use toothpicks to attach an apple for a nose.
