Total Time Needed: 1 Hour
In most places, the butterfly season draws to a close in August as these colorful insects begin to migrate to their winter habitats. You and your family can extend the season by crafting some winged creatures that will stick around long after the real ones are gone.
Materials
- 2 4- by 4-inch spares of tissue paper
- Scissors
- 12-inch pipe cleaner
- Thread and String (for hanging it up)
Instructions
1. Stack the 2 tissue squares, then trim the edges to resemble wings.
2. Fold the pipe cleaner in half over the wings, as shown, bunching the tissue slightly.
3. Twist together the pipe cleaner ends to hold the paper in place. Then curl the pipe cleaner tips around your finger or a pencil to create antennae. Tie one end of the thread to the pipe cleaner body for a hanger.
