Total Time Needed: Weekend Project
This patio-stone version of hopscotch is a winner on every count.
Materials
- 10 patio stepping stones (available at home-supply stores)
- Fine sandpaper (120 to 140 grit)
- White latex paint (1 quart)
- Paintbrushes
- Acrylic paint in assorted colors
- Stencils
- Sponges
- Chunky rubber stamps
- Acrylic sealant, spray- or brush-on
Instructions
- Sand each patio stone.
- Paint the tops and sides white. Allow the paint to dry; apply a second coat, if necessary.
- Use acrylic paint to number the stones.
- Decorate the stones with handprints, pictures, stencils, sponges, or stamps.
- Apply 3 to 4 coats of acrylic sealant, allowing each coat to dry between applications.
Tips:
When setting up your hopscotch game, bury the stones to their tops in peat moss or wood chips to help prevent tripping.
