Holiday Welcome Banner

Total Time Needed: 1-2 Hours

Nothing says "We're thrilled to see you!" more than a personalized decoration. Your guests will be tickled to see their own faces smiling back at them as they enter your door. And making our banner, which uses digital photos or scanned snapshots of family and friends, is a fun and easy project for kids.

Materials

  • 8 1/2 x 11 Paper
  • Printer
  • Digital snapshots
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Ribbon or string

Instructions

  1. Print each photo on a sheet of office paper. Take a few minutes to decide which photo works best for each letter of your welcome message by using a pencil to sketch the letters lightly on the photos (you'll want to try to avoid cutting off anybody's head, obviously!).
  2. Cut out each letter, use a glue stick to affix it to another sheet of white paper, then trim around the letter to create a border.
  3. Affix each letter to a piece of colored paper (we used 12- by 12-inch card stock), punch holes in the top corners, and thread a ribbon or string through the holes.
  4. Hang the banner in a spot where visitors can see it as they enter your home.
