Handy Tray

Total Time Needed: 2-3 Hours

Honor those "grand" people in your kids' lives on National Grandparents' Day (September 9) with this functional keepsake.

Materials

  • Wooden serving tray
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paper
  • Crayons
  • Scissors
  • Permanent marker
  • Clear sealant (we used Mod Podge)

Instructions

  1. Paint the wooden serving tray and let it dry.
  2. Have each grandchild decorate a piece of paper with crayons.
  3. Trace the children's hands on their papers, cut out the tracings, and use a permanent marker to label them with the artists' names.
  4. Arrange the hands on the tray, then cover them with a coat of clear sealant (we used Mod Podge). Let it dry, then cover the entire tray with one more clear coat.
