Halloween craft: Fortune teller Costume

Fortune teller Costume

Total Time Needed: 1-2 Hours

Our soothsayer's pals can see a glittering vision of themselves when they peer into her crystal ball, thanks to the mirror and battery-operated tea light tucked inside.

Materials

  • 1-gallon globe-shaped plastic fishbowl (ours cost $7 at a pet-supply store)
  • 5-inch-diameter round mirror
  • Silver star garland
  • Iridescent cellophane wrap
  • 2 battery-operated tea lights
  • 7-inch-diameter plastic plate
  • Glue dots
  • Flowing clothes, head scarf, and costume jewelry from your closet or a thrift shop

Instructions

1. To make the crystal ball, frame the mirror with the looped garland and secure it with glue dots. Use additional glue dots to adhere the mirror vertically inside the globe. Loosely crumple two or three sheets of cellophane to fill the space behind the mirror.

2. Shortly before using the ball, adhere the switched-on tea lights to the center of the plastic plate, then use more glue dots to attach the plate to the overturned globe.

3. Have your child put on the clothes, head scarf, and jewelry.
