Even when "hitting the trail" is code for hopping into the minivan, this grab-and-go meal is a fortifying favorite.


  • Ziplock bag
  • Nuts (we used almonds)
  • Dried fruit (we used cherries)
  • Whole-grain cereal (we used Puffins)


  1. Into a ziplock bag, dump 1/4 cup of nuts, 1/4 cup of dried fruit, and 1/2 cup of whole-grain cereal. A portable milk box completes the package.
