Father's Day Craft: Collage Card

Collage Card

Total Time Needed: 1 Hour

Crafted from household items, this Father's Day collage is more than your average greeting card.

Materials

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Tempera or acrylic paint and brush
  • Photo of Dad
  • Glue
  • Various household items
  • Floral wire
  • Colored markers

Instructions

  1. Cut a rough body shape from corrugated cardboard to form the base of the card. Then brush on a coat of tempera or acrylic paint. Once the paint dries, glue on a photograph of Dad's face.
  2. The card is ready to embellish with odds and ends. For the torso, you might choose a cookie cutter or a jar lid. To accent arms and legs, long, thin objects, such as pencils, nails and golf tees, work well. You can even cut pictures of work shoes, a baseball cap, or other clothing from old magazines.
  3. Glue or tape the paper objects in place. Tools and sports paraphernalia can be attached with floral wire (available at most craft and hobby shops). Just poke holes in the cardboard with a pushpin, thread through a length of wire, and twist together the ends on the back side of the card. Use another piece of wire to fashion a hanger at the top of the card.
  4. Finally, print a special greeting for Dad.
