Custom Clothes

Total Time Needed: 1-2 Hours

You can transform hand-me-downs into matching outfits with this easy iron-on technique. It's also a great way to cover stains or just customize a plain onesie or tee.

Materials

  • Patterned clothing
  • Computer scanner (or photocopier)
  • Inkjet transfer paper
  • Pen or pencil
  • Scissors
  • Iron
  • Plain piece of clothing

Instructions

  1. To start, scan the design from a piece of patterned clothing (here, flowered pants) into your computer and print the image onto inkjet transfer paper. Alternately, you can photocopy the design directly onto transfer paper.
  2. Draw and cut out a design (we traced a flower-shaped cookie cutter), then follow the package directions for ironing the design onto another piece of clothing (here, a white onesie).
