This tiny lighthouse makes a nice night-light; its soft glow is just bright enough to lead your child to the safe harbor of his bed.
Materials
- white plastic tape
- 18-ounce red plastic cup with a circular bottom
- 9-ounce clear plastic cup
- black card stock
- tacky glue
- battery-operated tea light
Instructions
Build a Mini Lighthouse Step 1Tape three white stripes around the red cup.
Build a Mini Lighthouse Step 2Trace the bottom of the clear plastic cup onto the black card stock.
Build a Mini Lighthouse Step 3Cut out the circle you traced, along with two small rectangles for the windows and a larger rectangle for the door.
Build a Mini Lighthouse Step 4Trim the top inch or so from the clear cup so that it sits on the red cup with about a half inch of overlap.
Build a Mini Lighthouse Step 5Use tacky glue to adhere the black circle to the bottom of the clear cup.
Build a Mini Lighthouse Step 6Glue the windows and door to the red cup, set the tea light on the top, and place the plastic cup over the light.
