Photo Pocket Tote Bag

Total Time Needed: 2-3 Hours

Carry your favorite people wherever you go with this fun and functional bag. Clear vinyl pockets allow you to swap snapshots whenever the mood strikes.

Materials

  • Photographs or digital images
  • 1/4 yard of clear vinyl, available at fabric stores
  • Masking tape
  • Scissors or pinking shears
  • 1 lightweight canvas or fabric bag, available at craft stores
  • Large-eyed embroidery needle
  • Colored embroidery floss

Instructions

  1. Select the photos you'd like to display; for easy swapping, we chose standard-size images (4- by 6-inch prints, small school photos, and so on).
  2. To make the pocket, arrange your pictures in a row on the vinyl, leaving about a half-inch space between each one. Use small pieces of masking tape to hold them temporarily in place.
  3. Cut around the row, leaving at least a half-inch border on the top, bottom, and sides.
  4. Remove the snapshots and place the vinyl on the bag. Use small pieces of tape to hold the corners and edges in place (make sure they're placed so they won't interfere with the sewing process).
  5. Thread the embroidery needle with floss and sew the inside seams, sides, and bottom.
